Rubrics in the literature

While exploring literature about rubrics, assessment and feedback in higher education, the researchers engaged in the Owning the Rubric project identified a number of rubrics that had been published within various research papers. These rubrics are presented below.

As a result of the rubric co-construction that took place during the Owning the Rubric project, the participants in the project created a number of rubrics that are shared below.

Websites featuring rubrics

The following sites offer a range of rubrics and advice about using rubrics. Educators are recommended to browse through these sites when developing their own rubrics to explore examples of rubrics, various types of rubric structures and wording that may be useful when creating rubric components.

VALUE Rubrics Association of American Colleges & Universities

This site provides free access to 16 VALUE rubrics organised by learning outcomes. A free sign-up is required to download these rubrics but unrestricted access is available on the website for DePaul University. The rubrics are grouped into the three major themes of:
1.      Intellectual and Practical Skills
2.      Personal and Social Responsibility
3.      Integrative and Applied Learning.
